This oil painting is not framed. It does have hanging fittings and wire attached on the back.

The Great Knot, Calidris tenuirostris, is 28 - 30cm long and a wading bird that likes the tidal mudflats along Australia including along the Cairns Esplanade where this particular bird I saw feeding. 

There is a change this isn't a great knot, as it can be hard to tell the several breeds of smaller wading birds are!
